[SPORT NEWS] Chelsea veteran John Terry sent off on return to first team

The veteran defender has not played for the Blues since coming on for the final six minutes of their 5-0 Premier League win over Everton on November 5.

But Antonio Conte handed the ex-England international a rare start in Chelsea's FA Cup third round tie with Peterborough today.

The Blues pulled out to a comfortable 3-0 lead on 52 minutes but then it all went wrong for Terry.

Posh striker Lee Angol latched onto a through-ball on the left-hand side and Terry then tripped up the 22-year-old who would have been in on goal.

Referee Kevin Friend brandished a red card at Terry, sending him for an early bath.

The 36-year-old felt aggrieved by the decision but it was a clumsy challenge from him.

It means three of Chelsea's last six red cards have been shown to Terry.
