[SPORT NEWS]Approach made for attacker as Leeds close in on second January signing – report

Leeds have made an approach for Norwich attacking midfielder Sergi Canos, according to a report.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim the Championship giants have made contact with the East Anglia club about a deal to take the Spaniard to Elland Road this month.
It is said that Leeds are keen to sign Canos on loan for the rest of the season rather than commit to a permanent transfer.

This comes after Sky Sports claim on their website that Leeds are interested in rivalling Brentford for the youngster, who quit Liverpool last summer after rejecting a contract from the Premier League giants.
Pope took to his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning to explain that he was digging around for information on Leeds’ pursuit of the 19-year-old.

He said there was a “slim chance” of Norwich allowing Canos to leave on a loan deal this month, but revealed that any club “with £3million to spare will seem likely to land him”.

Canos has not made the impact he would have hoped for at Championship outfit Norwich after signing on a free transfer last summer and committing to a four-year contract with the option for a fifth year.

He has been given just 500 minutes of first-team action by manager Alex Neil, amounting to eight first-team appearances, just three of which have come in the Championship.
The Spaniard has scored three goals and supplied two assists but has not been able to gain the trust of Neil in the way he did during a hugely successful loan spell at Brentford, where he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 39 matches.

Sky Sports report that the right winger is open to a transfer and his preference would be to join Brentford if a deal can be secured between the two Championship clubs.

Leeds are in the market for attacking reinforcements this month, with Garry Monk admitted he “definitely” wants to sign a striker.
