[SPORT NEWS]Chelsea to discuss Ruben Loftus-Cheek loan move after FA Cup tie as midfielder bids for first-team action

Chelsea will hold talks with England Under-21 international Ruben Loftus-Cheek this week to decide whether he should go on loan this month.

Watford, Middlesbrough and Swansea City, who are managed by former Chelsea No2 Paul Clement, are all monitoring Loftus-Cheek, who would prefer to stay in the Premier League rather than drop into the Championship if he is allowed out.

The 20-year-old midfielder could face Peterborough in the FA Cup on Sunday in what would be his first appearance for Chelsea since October.

Regarded as one of the brightest English players of his age group alongside Dele Alli, Loftus-Cheek has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and has made only six Premier League starts as he approaches his 21st birthday later this month.

Conte remains an admirer and the club will assess after the cup tie whether Loftus-Cheek needs more game time elsewhere this season, or if he could be of use at Chelsea, who have recently lost Oscar and John Obi Mikel to Chinese football.

Championship club Brighton have also expressed an interest although the player is reluctant to drop down a division while German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach would also take him.

Monchengladbach have a good relationship with Chelsea and already have their Danish defender Andreas Christensen on loan.
The midfielder is keen to get more game time but is keen to remain in the Premier League
