Gossip: Arsenal want Zaha, Real want De Gea and Hazard

What an excellent weekend for Wilfried Zaha. No sooner has he recovered from the thrill of being named our early winner, but then Monday comes around and The Guardian claim that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City – as well as long-term admirers Tottenham – are all interested in taking him away from Crystal Palace for a second time. The Guardian say that Zaha will be offered a new Palace contract worth more than Christian Benteke’s £110,000 a week but that ‘with Zaha believed to be keen on testing himself at a higher level, it remains to be seen whether any new deal would contain a clause allowing him to join a club playing in the Champions League’.

You may think you have heard all this before but the Daily Mirror’s John Cross insists that it is an ‘EXCLUSIVE’ that Real Madrid ‘are planning a full-scale attempt to sign David de Gea this summer’. But are they prepared to pay over £66m for the Manchester United goalkeeper? They had better be. Cross continues: ‘Real Madrid are intending to spend VERY big this summer – they are ready to smash the £89m world-record fee United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last August to get (Eden) Hazard.’ Once again, we are told that Madrid are prepared to throw in Alvaro Morata, as if he were a bag of prawn crackers coming free with any other over £10. But asked if he is interested in a move to Madrid by reporters this weekend, Hazard laughed and replied: “You want to get me in trouble (with this question)? No, I’m fine at Chelsea. I have things to finish this year. I still have a contract until 2020. So I’m fine here.”

Crystal Palace will attempt to sign defender Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool during the summer…Paris St-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti will hold talks over his future at the end of the season…Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has confirmed his desire to sign on-loan Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
