Man jailed six months for burglary

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a security guard, Mustapha Hammed, to six months imprisonment for burgling his employer’s office and stealing N14, 500. Magistrate Habibatu Bashiru found Hammed, 29, guilty on a two-court charge of burglary and theft following his guilty plea. Bashir, however, gave Hammed an option of N10,000 fine. The prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, had submitted that Hammed burgled the office of Art Deco Interior Furniture Nig. Ltd. in Agunbelewo, Osogbo on April 9 and made away with the sum. He said that the offences contravened Sections 412 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. Hammed’s counsel, Mr Promise Jones, had prayed for leniency.
